Being a caregiver is all very well and good but you need to know how to handle the person you’re caring for so that you don’t injure yourself or them. You need to know at least basic first aid.

In the UK there is a course for caregivers called Looking after me. Check with the carers organisation in your area to see when the course is being offeredor contact the company who deliver the course as they will have the dates for your area. This is the link to Devon Carers. Looking after me.
In some towns St John’s Ambulance provides courses on manual handling. For a full list of their courses go to their courses page and input your postcode. It will list courses available in your area.
Many local authorities also provide courses.
